Old Town Alexandria is one of the most popular suburbs of DC with its vibrant restaurant scene, waterfront views, cobblestone pedestrian-only section of King Street, and close proximity to things like the Reagan National Airport and National Harbor. It's also home to some of the most beautiful row homes in Virginia, with waterfront 3 story units over 2 million dollars to 2BR 1BA inland options in the $600,000s. If row homes aren't your thing, there are luxury condo buildings surrounding the action, and incredible neighborhoods full of single family homes within a 10 minute drive. The metro is also at your footsteps, with an easy commute to Amazon HQ2, the Pentagon, and Washington DC. This has driven a diverse population of millennials, young families, retirees, military, and international relocations.
What are some of my personal favorites in Old Town? Mia's Italian Kitchen, The Majestic, and BARCA serve exceptional food in great atmospheres. I also love to pop into Union Street Public House and The People's Drug for drinks. If the weather is good, you just can't beat King Street by the waterfront with its live music, patio dining, and people watching. If you're a Sunday bruncher, sit right on the water at Vola's or drink my favorite coffee in the DMV at Misha's.
One more thing that's interesting and appealing thing about Old Town is that it is significantly cheaper than the metro corridor in Arlington. If you're looking to buy for under a million dollars but still want the extreme walkability and diversity of options that comes with urban living, Old Town could be the place for you. Reach out to me if you'd ever like to learn more about the area, and I would LOVE to meet for coffee at Misha's anytime!
